Pain In Labour
Welcome to the Pregnancy edition of Homeopathy & Health Newsletter!
Did you know that Homeopathy can safely and gently relieve most pregnancy related symptoms and discomforts? Homeopathy is a gentle yet effective system of medicine which uses remedies that are highly diluted and are not chemical drugs, making them safe for both babies and mothers.
Labour pain is caused by contractions of the muscles of the uterus and by pressure on the cervix. In order to push the baby out of the uterus, the uterine muscles must contract. This is amazing (it’s the whole point, right?), but also, let’s not sugar coat things, this can be painful. The pain is usually felt in the abdomen, groin, legs and back, and can feel different for every woman in terms of location and intensity.
Our brains play a huge role here. The more fearful we are, the more likely we will feel more pain. The chemicals in our brains that regulate fear and anxiety also regulate how we perceive pain. Meaning, we want to try to stay calm and relaxed throughout our labour and delivery. Easier said than done, right? There are lots of techniques that have been tried, tested, and true to help women through this phase, from massage to breathing to hypnosis. Homeopathic remedies can make a huge difference too. Here’s how Homeopathy can help!
Remedies to Think of to Manage Pain

Kali Carbonicum is well known for a baby who has his back facing your back instead of facing out. A posterior baby is the position that can create a ‘back labour’ for women, which can be more painful than normal labour (if that is even possible!). Kali Carbonicum will remind a posterior baby that there is an easier way to be born; try taking a 30 C potency every 30 min for up to three doses.
